Harbouring our due respect

Later this month, an El Pasoan will take helm of a pretty prestigious honor. It's a little-known honor, since it hasn't been held by an El Pasoan in some time. El Paso lawyer Cori Harbour will become president of the Texas Young Lawyers Association. It's a hefty job, especially because Harbour is a mother, a wife, and a sole practitioner. Now, she's got to carry on her shoulders the responsibility of an organization that prides itself as "the public service arm of the State Bar of Texas."

TYLA is really a great organization that offers all kinds of service projects for people like you and me, and youth especially. Ever had landlord-tenant problems? TYLA has a brochure aimed specifically at those. How about questions about divorce? They've got you covered. Know anybody with cancer who is facing legal issues with their employer? Guess what? TYLA has information for them, too! So, the fact that Harbour is leading this great organization is awesome. She'll lead them to look at issues that are relevant to not only the state, but to border communities, like El Paso! Whoooo. All the while, she'll bring more and more respect to our little border town (which often gets ignored by the rest of the state).

And Cori is a great person, to boot. She's witty, smart, and has great hair. :D I learned a lot about her since I got the opportunity to spend the day with her for a story I wrote for work. She's amazing. She pooped me out. I felt like I had just done a month's worth of work in the one day that we hung out. I don't know how she does it, but she does.

Just another reason to love El Paso!

El Paso is very fortunate to have Cori. Not only is she a fantastic lawyer, she is also a wonderful leader and true ambassador for EP. EP should be very proud.
